Federal Premium 7mm Backcountry 168gr Barnes Long Range X (LRX) Polymer Tip Lead-Free 20/Box features Federal Premium Gold Medal primers, specially formulated propellant and patented one-piece high strength Peak Alloy steel cartridge cases. This ammunition utilizes all-copper construction Barnes Long Range X bullets (projectiles) and excels in both close range and extended hunting distances. This lead-free ammunition delivers unmatched flight characteristics combined with a specially engineered bullet nose cavity that peels back into four cutting petals, delivers massive expansion and identical on-game devastation. Utilizing Peak Alloy cartridge case technology, this ammunition can be loaded to higher chamber pressures than brass case counterparts. As a result, it produces higher muzzle velocities than comparable cartridges, retaining velocity downrange for less drop and wind drift. This ammunition is built for hunting medium sized game (50 to 300 lbs) including whitetail deer, and for hunting large game (300 to 1500 lbs) including black bear and elk. This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, boxer primed, in reloadable brass cases.
Please Note: Patented Peak Alloy case technology is fundamentally different than brass cases. Created in response to U.S. military solicitations, it utilizes a proprietary steel alloy that includes other unique elements. This same alloy is used in manufacturing safes, nuclear reactors and other high-strength applications. Peak Alloy allows Federal to safely increase chamber pressures far beyond the limits of brass case ammunition, significantly increasing velocity and energy. The Peak Alloy case is also reloadable when following Federal’s lab-tested processes and data.
